2025 MINOR WAIVER POLICY

IF YOUR RIDER DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION THEY WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RIDE. 

 

Minors Waiver Policy for Race Practice and Race Events

Per Sections 1.1, 2.1 and 3.1 of the AMA Rulebook,   “No rider under the legal age of majority in the state in which the meet takes place may compete without the written consent (signature on liability releases and entry forms) of their parents or legal guardians present at the meet. An authorized adult acting on behalf of the parents or legal guardians must provide a notarized statement indicating they have been given the authority by the parent or legal guardian to be responsible for the minor during the meet. All releases and notarized statements must be forwarded to the AMA with the referee report and/or injury report. The parents, legal guardians or authorized adult must remain present while the AMA member who they are responsible for is at the meet.”

AMA NOW REQUIRES ALL RACERS TO FILE AN ANNUAL MINOR WAIVER WITH THE AMA PRIOR TO RACING.

Both Parents/Guardians Version (Joint Custody) — This version requires each parent/guardian to sign and submit a form individually to complete the process.

PLEASE NOTE IMPORTANT STEP:

For both Parents Waiver, once the first parent has completed the form, you must select the button below labeled “ANYONE ELSE NEED TO SIGN” and have the 2nd parent complete their signature before your waiver is accepted and valid.

Sole Custody Version — This version requires the parent/guardian with legal sole custody to sign and submit one form to complete the process.

Track Rules and Policies, along with the Annual Minor Waiver filed with the AMA, will also be required. Be sure to check with each track for their specific policies and waiver requirements.

AMA Race Waiver Needed for Each Event Below:

  • Print out the Minor Waiver Form - If the form does not appear click "Download" on the file page.
  • Have both parents or Legal Guardians of minor(s) fill out the form completely. (Grandparents are not considered legal guardians unless appointed by a court order.)
  • IF TEMPORARY AUTHORIZED ADULT IS NEEDED 
  • Provide a separate LETTER TO BE COMPLETED stating the name of the AUTHORIZED ADULT (must be 25 years or older).  This letter must be signed, dated and notarized each time the rider/racer attends a AMA event. No exceptions.
  • Be sure that both parents (Legal Guardian(s)) signs this form as well as the Temporary Authorized Adult. 
  • Take it to a Notary Public and have it notarized (notary seal and stamp required) If a notary isn't open for any reason, you may use an online notary such as notorize.com
  • Email or bring the notarized waiver, letter of Temporary Authorized Adult and a copy of the parents drivers license(s) prior to registering for a Ride Pass.
